Monday Roundup: Lady Rangers, Bulldogs Claim District 1-A Titles

Unaka 58, Hampton 52 (girls)
The Lady Ranges outlasted an upset-minded Hampton squad to secure the outright District 1-A title on Monday night.

Unaka led 28-19 at the half and maintained a 43-36 lead after three complete quarters. The Lady Bulldogs continued to battle, but Unaka was able to hold on for the win.

Michelle Shields had 25 points to lead Unaka, while Emma Whitaker had 11 points.

Gracie Jenkins led Hampton with 17 points, and Hannah Smith had 14 points. Hannah Baird added 11 points.

Hampton 80, Unaka 49 (boys)
The Bulldogs jumped out early to claim the District 1-A title on Monday night.

Hampton jumped out to a 20-5 lead in the opening quarter and pushed the lead to 41-16 at the half.

Unaka battled in the second half, but the Bulldogs were able to hold momentum to take the win.

Chase Davenport led the way for Hampton with 21 points, while Colby Clark and Tuff Robinson added 20 points apiece. Jackson Smith added 10 points.

Zach Wallin led Unaka with 19 points, while John Hardin had nine points. Cooper Smith and Justius Wallin had eight points each.

Unicoi County 35, Happy Valley 16 (girls)
The Lady Warriors were unable to keep pace on Monday night on Warrior Hill.

Addi Moore led HV with eight points. Amilia Riddick added seven points.
Brooklyn Sparks led Unicoi with nine points.

Elizabethton 74, David Crockett 37 (girls)
The Lady Cyclones pulled away in the second half and never looked back.

EHS used a 16-3 run to open the third quarter and rolled to a district win.

Rylee May led Elizabethton with 21 points. Reagan May added 15 points, while Addison Bunn and Jamira Smalls added 14 points apiece.

Cloudland 63, Sullivan East 30 (girls)
The Lady ‘Landers rolled to a Monday night win.

Cloudland raced out to a 24-8 lead after eight minutes of play, and pushed the advantage to 42-18 at the half.

Makinna Shell finished with 23 points to lead Cloudland. Savannah McCoury added 14 points, while Regan Blair and Abriella Jones scored seven points apiece.

David Crockett 54, Elizabethton 44 (boys)
The Cyclones were unable to overcome a sluggish third quarter on Monday.

Elizabethton maintained a 29-27 lead at the half, but Crockett outscored EHS 12-4 in the third to take a slim 39-33 lead.

In the fourth quarter, the teams went back and forth, but EHS was unable to rally past the Pioneers.

Nathan Bailey led Elizabethton with 15 points. Hudson Pate added nine points. Jackson Buckles scored eight points.
