Monday Roundup: Lady Rangers move past Hampton; Bulldogs, Lady Cyclones fall in openers

Unaka picked up an opening day win over a county rival on Monday.

The Lady Rangers scored three runs in the first inning and pushed the advantage to 8-0 after two complete.

Noelle Collins had a homerun for the Lady Rangers, while Kendall Bare was 2-for-3 with four RBI.

Sadie Shoun picked up the win in the circle as she struck out five Lady Bulldogs.

Sara Orr was handed the hard-fought loss for Hampton as she allowed two earned runs on seven hits.

Grainger 10, Elizabethton 0 (softball)
The Lady Cyclones were unable to overcome an eight-run fifth inning in the season opener.

EHS had limited Grainger to just two runs through four and half complete innings, but the Grainger bats came alive to score eight runs to secure the win.

Maddie O’Quinn, Emma O’Quinn, and Kenidy Harris each had a hit apiece for the Lady Cyclones.

In the circle, Madisun Pritchard was handed the loss in four innings of work.

Providence Academy 10, Hampton 0 (baseball)
The Bulldogs were unable to get the offense going in the season opener.

Hampton saw Caleb Royston, McKinley Kuhn, and Morgan Lyons get hits, but HHS was unable to knock a run across the plate.

Royston had a great showing in relief work as he allowed just one earned run in three innings of work.
