Elizabethton achieved perfection on Friday night.
The Cyclones rolled to a 37-0 victory over Sullivan Central to finish the regular season with a 10-0 record for just the second time in school history. The other time was in 1951.
After the game was delayed due to lighting issues, Elizabethton took control and never looked back.
Nate Stephens scored on a 10-yard run to cap off a five-play drive to open the game, and Stephens scored his second touchdown of the night on the next EHS possession. Climate Controllers Player of the Week Cade Maupin gave Elizabethton a 20-0 lead after a quarter of play with a three-yard touchdown.
In the second quarter, Maupin added a four-yard touchdown to the Elizabethton tally, and Jaxton Holly kicked a 37-yard field goal to give EHS a 30-0 lead at the break.
The Cyclones wrapped up the scoring in the third quarter as Bryson Rollins found Jordan Killion for a 28-yard touchdown.
Maupin crossed over the 1,000-yard mark for the season as he recorded 102 yards on the night. Rollins finished 10-of-13 for 143 yards.
Elizabethton will open the Class 4A playoffs on Friday night inside Citizens Bank Stadium against East Ridge.
