Former Unaka standout and current Milligan senior Josh Peterson was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance in the Buffaloes’ win over Bryan. The award was announced on Monday afternoon.

It was the first weekly honor of the year for Peterson.

Peterson recorded a two-hit shutout in his only pitching appearance of the week. He struck out five, walked two and faced only two over the minimum in the seven-inning game. Milligan (17-9, 9-7 AAC) took the game 1-0 and swept the series for its fourth straight win.

Peterson held Bryan, which has been receiving votes for the national top-25 poll every week since the preseason poll was released on Nov. 11, to 0-for-5 with runners on base and 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position.
