Hampton picked up a pair of varsity wins over a county foe on Tuesday night.
The Lady Bulldogs pulled away to take a 65-35 win over Unaka, while Hampton took an 84-55 victory over the Rangers.
In the girls’ game, Hampton methodically pulled away from the Lady Rangers.
Points were hard to come by in the opening quarter as Macy Henry and Hannah Yontz traded shots over the first three minutes. Hampton got a little breathing room as Ella Estep sparked a 10-2 run to end the quarter and the Lady Bulldogs maintained a 12-5 lead after one.
Katlyn Dugger and Lauren Lund hit back-to-back shots to pull the Lady Rangers back within a shot.
The Lady Bulldogs, however, used another run – this one going 17-2 sparked by buckets from Henry and Estep – to take a 33-18 halftime lead.
From there, Hampton was able to keep the Lady Rangers at bay during the second half.
Hampton was paced by Piper Helle and Bree Hicks who scored 12 points apiece. Henry scored 11 points, while Estep scored eight points.
Lund led Unaka with 18 points, while Haley Taylor had nine points.
In the boys’ game, Hampton got off to a quick start.
Hayden Campbell hit back-to-back shots to open the game, and the Bulldogs opened the game on a 13-1 run.
Austin Lambert and Mason Wilson hit back-to-back shots for the Rangers, but Campbell and Dylan Trivett ended the quarter on a run to send Hampton into the second with an 18-6 advantage.
The teams traded shots over the second quarter, and Unaka cut the lead to 32-23 at the half.
Hampton, however, took full control in the third.
The Bulldogs outscored Unaka 34-18 in the third quarter and rolled to the win.
Michael Anspaugh had 21 points to lead Hampton, while Campbell scored 20 points. Bryce Fagan added 15 points to the Bulldog effort.
Chase Davenport finished with eight points.
Wilson led Unaka with 18 points, while Conor McKinney had 10 points. Lambert and Marcus Shomaker had seven and six points, respectively.
