Hampton picked up a road sweep Friday night.
The Bulldogs pulled away to take an 81-60 victory at Unaka, while the Hampton girls jumped out early to take a 78-32 win over the Lady Rangers.
In the boys’ game, Hampton’s Dylan Trivett and Unaka’s Landon Ramsey traded shots early on before back-to-back buckets from Cadon Buckles gave Hampton a 12-6 lead. The Rangers trimmed the lead to two points before Geno Carrico scored five straight points to take a 17-10 advantage after a quarter of play.
Hampton opened the second quarter on a quick 7-0 run before Ramsey sparked an 11-2 run as the Rangers closed back to five points.
With shots from Hayden Campbell and Buckles hit key shots as Hampton took a 40-28 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Joe-Z Blamo and Ramsey helped Unaka quickly trim the lead to six points by the midpoint of the third quarter. However, a Buckles old-fashioned 3-point snapped the run and the Bulldogs pushed the lead back to double-digits.
Hampton led by 12 after three complete quarters and continued to hold the momentum as they were able to extend the lead in the final eight minutes.
Buckles had 30 points to lead Hampton, while Campbell had 16 points. Carrico and Trivett had 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Ramsey had a game-high 34 points to lead Unaka. Lewis and Wilson had eight and seven points, respectively.
In the girls’ game, Hampton jumped out early and never looked back.
The Lady Bulldogs scored the game’s first seven points and pushed the lead to 17-6 after a quarter of play.
Hampton opened the second quarter on a 15-2 run and outscored Unaka 39-4 in the stanza to take a 56-10 advantage at the half.
The Lady Rangers kept battling in the second half, but Hampton continued to hold the momentum.
Hampton was paced by Macy Henry’s 22 points. Taylor Berry added 16 points, while Madi McClain had 13 points. Linsey Jenkins added 11 points.
Lyndie Ramsey had 22 points to lead Unaka, while Haley Taylor and Alisha Harrell had three points apiece.
