A quartet of former Carter County standouts had a significant impact on Maryville on Saturday.

Unfortunately, the Scots came up painstakingly on the wrong side of a heartbreaker.

Maryville erased a 28-7 deficit to take a one-point lead with 3:28 to play before Shenandoah scored in the closing seconds to take a 34-29 victory in Maryville on Saturday.

Former Elizabethton quarterback Bryson Rollins continued his impressive freshman campaign as he went 27-of-40 for 340 yards with three touchdowns – including the one that put the Scots up in from with 3:40 left when he found former Cyclone receiver Corey Russell.

Russell finished with six catches for 62 yards and a touchdown in the game.

On the offensive line, former Cloudland standout Eli Preswood and former Elizabethton standout Wes Erwin took significant snaps for the Scots throughout the game.

Preswood also played special teams for Maryville.
