Cloudland came up short in the District 1-A Championship game.
The Lady ‘Landers fell 7-1 to North Greene in the title game on Thursday evening on Stoney Creek. CHS is set to open the Region 1-A tournament on Monday at Cosby, while North Greene will host Hancock County.
Cloudland wasted no time in getting the scoring started as Eowyn McCoury hit a leadoff home run over the left field fence to take a 1-0 lead after an inning of play.
The Lady Huskies struck in the bottom of the second as Addie Dean hit a double that drove two runs across the plate. NG extended the lead in the home side of the fourth as Tralyn Southerland and Hannah Brooks each hit a two-run home run.
Cloudland continued to battle, but was unable to rally.
Willow Bennett was 2-for-3 at the plate. McCoury had a hit and an RBI. Reagan Turbyfill struck out five batters in the pitching circle.
Savannah McCoury, E. McCoury, and Turbyfill were named to the All-Tournament team.
Southerland was 3-for-3 with three RBI for NG, while Dead was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Brooks tallied 10 strikeouts and allowed just one earned run on three hits.
