Elizabethton was unable to extend the season on Friday night.
The Cyclones were unable to answer to keep pace with Volunteer in a 76-51 decision in the District 1-3A play-in game inside Treadway Gymnasium.
With the loss, Elizabethton’s season comes to a close a game away from the Region tournament.
It was a back-and-forth battle in the opening minutes before Volunteer was able to put extend the lead to 21-14 after a quarter of play.
Elizabethton continued to battle, but was unable to cut into the lead as Volunteer held a 36-26 halftime lead.
The Falcons took control in the third quarter as they outscored EHS 20-11 in the frame.
In the final quarter, the Cyclones were unable to mount a rally to cut into the lead.
Will Churchhill had 10 points to lead Elizabethton, while Dalton Mitchell and Nate Stephens had nine points apiece.
Jackson Hobbs and Andrew Barnett had eight points and seven points, respectively.
