Elizabethton hit the gas early and never looked back.
The Cyclones picked up a nonconference county win as they defeated Happy Valley 76-49 on Warrior Hill Friday night.
Elizabethton jumped out early.
A balanced attack saw six Cyclones reach the scorebook as EHS took a 23-11 lead after a quarter of play. Elizabethton held HV to just eight points in the second quarter while scoring 26 in the frame to push the lead to 49-19 at the half.
HV continued to battle, but the Cyclones were able to keep the Warriors at bay to secure the win.
Dalton Mitchell led the Orange and Black with 20 points, while Nate Stephens had 18 points.
In all, Elizabethton saw 13 players score in the game.
Ron Parker had 15 points to lead Happy Valley. Dakota Grindstaff had 11 points, while Donavan Maxwell added 10 points.
