Elizabethton was unable to extend the season on Tuesday night.

The Cyclones came up short in a 9-5 decision to Unicoi County in the District 1-3A Baseball Tournament in an elimination game at Joe O’Brien Field.

After a scorless first inning, Unicoi took jumped out with five runs in the home side of the second inning.

Elizabethton, however, didn’t go quietly.

The Cyclones got on the board as Brayden Buckles crossed homeplate on a Zack Workman single, while Peyton Johnson scored off a passed ball. Hayden Nave plated the last run of the inning as he pushed Workman across the plate as Elizabethton closed the gap to 5-3.

The Blue Devils added to the lead in the fourth with four runs.

Elizabethton continued to battle with single runs in the fifth and sixth, but was unable to complete the rally.

Kaleb Hambrick, Buckles, Johnson, and Workman had two hits apiece for Elizabethton.
