Elizabethton had split results on Friday night.
The Lady Cyclones hit the gas early and never looked back in a 64-26 victory over Tennessee High, while the Cyclones were unable to get shots to fall in a 62-42 decision to the state-ranked Vikings.
In the girls’ game, it was all Elizabethton as EHS won their 13th straight against league foes.
Olivia Holly had eight first-quarter points to power EHS to a 19-6 lead after a quarter of play. Lina Lyon scored nine points in the second stanza to keep momentum on the side of the Lady Cyclones. That allowed EHS to take a 36-13 halftime advantage.
From there, it was all Elizabethton as the Lady Cyclones left no doubt in the second half.
Holly had 17 points to lead Elizabethton, while Lyon finished with 14 points. Maddie Fowler had 12 points.
In the boys’ game, Elizabethton was forced to dig out of an early hole.
After Tennessee High took a 17-6 lead after a quarter of play, the Cyclones kept battling and trimmed the deficit to single digits at the half.
The Vikings, however, opened the second half quickly and pushed the lead to 47-31 after three complete quarters despite a hard-fought battle from Tennessee High.
Nate Stephens had 11 points to lead Elizabethton, while Jackson Hobbs had 10 points.
