Photo Gallery: Lady Cyclones Come Up Short In District 1-3A Title Game

Despite a hard-fought effort, Elizabethton came up short in the District 1-3A Championship on Friday afternoon.

The Lady Cyclones went back-and-forth but fell 10-7 to David Crockett in Elizabethton. EHS will open the Region 1-3A tournament next Monday on the road.

The Lady Cyclones opened the game with a statement as Sadie Williams hit a two-run home run in the top of the first that brought Adrian Heading across the plate as well. The Lady Pioneers, however, answered in the home side of the frame with two runs of their own.

EHS edged back ahead in the top of the third as Gracie Shepard hit a single that allowed Kaitlyn Gryder to score. However, David Crockett countered with two runs in the bottom of the third and five more in the fourth to take a 9-3 lead.

Elizabethton, however, didn’t go quietly.

After Crockett pushed the lead out with a single run in the fifth, Elizabethton was able to get three runs back with a Gryder homerun over the centerfield fence that allowed Hayden Richardson and Brook Sparks to score.
EHS looked to continue to rally in the seventh as Williams scored off a Kami Dugger sac fly. However, EHS was unable to keep the run going.

Gryder was 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Williams had two hits and two RBI. Shepard had a hit and an RBI, while Sparks added a hit. Dugger finished with an RBI.
