Elizabethton hit the gas and rolled into the District 1-3A Championship game.
The top-seeded Lady Cyclones stormed to a 68-40 victory over Sullivan East on Saturday in the District 1-3A semifinals inside Treadway Gymnasium.
Elizabethton will take on Unicoi County on Monday night at 7:30p in the Championship tilt. With the win, Elizabethton also secured a home game in the Region 1-3A Quarterfinals.
Jenna Hare and Sullivan East jumped out early as Hare scored the first eight points of the game.
Elizabethton, however, answered with a 13-2 run sparked my shots from Marlee Mathena and Reily Whitson as the Lady Cyclones took a 13-10 lead.
The teams traded points to end the quarter as EHS held a 16-12 lead after a quarter of play.
From there, it was all Elizabethton.
Olivia Holly, Mathena, and Whitson combined for a quarter 8-0 run to open the second, and Elizabethton scored 14 of the first 16 points of the quarter to take a double-digit lead.
The teams traded shots for a stretch before Lina Lyon reeled off four quick points as part of a 6-0 Lady Cyclone run to end the half and take a 44-23 halftime advantage.
Any thoughts of an East comeback were quickly erased as Elizabethton reeled off a quick 9-0 run to open the second half and the Lady Cyclones cruised into the title game.
The Lady Cyclones held East to just one shot from the field in the final two quarters.
Lyon had 21 points, while Whitson finished with 15 points. Mathena scored 12 points for the Oranga and Black.
