Elizabethton softball struck big in the fourth inning to take an opening day victory.
The Lady Cyclones plated four runs in the fourth and opened the 2022 campaign with a 6-2 victory over Johnson County on Monday afternoon.
Elizabethton saw Maddie O’Quinn and Maely Ingram touch home plate to give EHS a 2-0 lead after three complete.
Johnson County got a run back in the visiting side of the fourth, but Ingram knocked in a pair of runs, and Bailee VanHuss and Ingram scored to give EHS a 6-1 advantage.
From there, the Lady Cyclones took care of business to secure the win.
Kenidy Harris, Lana Ward, Ingram, and O’Quinn all recorded a hit for the Orange and Black. Ingram had two RBI, while Ember Jensen added an RBI.
In the pitching circle, Madisun Pritchard picked up the win with a complete-game effort. She allowed just two earned runs on five hits and recorded eight strikeouts.
