Cloudland rallied in a big way on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady ‘Landers overcame a 7-0 deficit to take an 11-14 win over Sullivan East on Wednesday afternoon in Roan Mountain.
After the Lady Patriots took a 7-0 lead after two complete innings, Cloudland started battling back. Eowyn McCoury scored in the bottom of the third on a steal of home to get CHS on the board. In the home side of the fourth, Cloudland plated seven runs to tie the game at 8-8.
The Lady Patriots added a run in the top of the fifth, but Cloudland answered as McCoury hit a double to score Abriella Jones and Jayla Harper. McCoury scored off a passed ball to give CHS an 11-9 lead after five complete innings.
Sullivan East got a run back to close the gap to 11-10 in the top of the sixth. CHS answered as Jayla Harper hit a deep shot that plated three runs, including Harper, as she took advantage of a Lady Patriot error.
Sullivan East got the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but Cloudland was able to secure the win.
Turbyfill was 3-for-4 with three RBi, while McCoury was 3-for-4 with two RBI. Abriella Jones had a hit and an RBI.
Savannah McCoury and Harper each had a hit. S. McCoury allowed five earned runs on 11 hits with eight strikeouts.
Ryleigh Joyner had three RBI to lead East. Audrey Easley was 3-for-5 with an RBI.
