It was a split decision on Friday night.
The Lady ‘Landers rolled to a 65-17 win over University High on Senior Night inside Sonny Smith Gymnasium, while the ‘Landers dropped a back-and-forth 61-54 battle to the Bucs.
In the girls’ game, Cloudland scored the first 11 points of the game and held a 14-5 lead after a quarter of play. The Lady ‘Landers left no doubt in the second by outscoring UH 20-2 in the frame to take a 34-7 lead into the half.
Makinna Shell led Cloudland with 11 points, while Abriella Jones scored 10 points. Eowyn McCoury and Abby Clawson scored nine and seven points, respectively, while Savannah McCoury had six points.
In the boys’ game, it was a back-and-forth battle.
Points were hard to come by in the opening minutes before UH took a 16-13 lead after a quarter of play. The ‘Landers used a 10-3 run in the second to take the lead, but the Bucs used a four-point play to end the half to take a 29-28 lead into the locker room.
The lead traded shots throughout the second half as UH was able to hold off a determined Cloudland squad.
Gavyn Shell led the way with 19 points, while Grayson Cole added 10 points. Uriah Jarrett and Bryce Birchfield had eight points apiece.
Mehki Yocum led UH with 14 points.
