Friday night featured a pair of big runs on Warrior Hill.
Cloudland started the girls’ game on an 18-0 run and never looked back in a 65-32 victory over the Lady Warriors, while the Happy Valley boys used a quick double-digit run in the second half to take a 76-44 win over the ‘Landers in the nightcap.
In the girls’ game, Cloudland took control early.
The Lady ‘Landers scored 18 straight points to open things up before Happy Valley was able to trim into the lead. CHS held a 26-14 lead after a quarter of play
A 13-2 Cloudland run to open the second quarter helped Cloudland set the tone, and CHS never looked back despite a hard fight from HV.
Makenzie Street had 17 points to lead Cloudland, while Izabella Christman had 13 points. Ryan Turbyfill added 12 points.
Marcida Moore had 12 points to lead HV, while Kayla Parker and Cayden Anderson had eight and seven points, respectively.
The boys game was a back-and-forth battle in the early going.
The teams swapped runs to open the game as CHS held an 11-10 lead after a quarter of play. Happy Valley, however, reeled off 12 straight points to open the second. Cloudland battled and trimmed the deficit to 34-24 at the half.
In the second half, the Warriors were able to keep the momentum and quickly pushed the lead out to secure the win.
Darian Jackson had 26 points to lead the way for the Warriors, while Dylan Furr had 15 points. Artee Bahn added 13 points. Austin Nickles had 12 points.
Cooper Smith led Cloudland with nine points, while Uriah Jarrett added eight points. Nick Caraway had seven points.
