Unaka took care of business in an important District 1-A clash on Tuesday night.

The Lady Rangers scored 10 unanswered runs to take a 12-1 win over Cloudland on Stoney Creek Tuesday afternoon.

Cloudland saw Eowyn McCoury open the game with a single, and Savannah McCoury hit a double as CHS put two runs in scoring position to open the game. However, the Lady Rangers turned a double play and a fly out to end the scoring threat.

Unaka broke onto the board in the bottom of the first as Mikena Blackwell hit a one-out single and advanced to third after a Devalyn Harter single. Kacie Bare hit a shot to right field that allowed Blackwell and Harter to score to give UHS a 2-0 lead after an inning of play.

After a scoreless second, the Lady ‘Landers were able to get a run back as Regan Blair scored off a Willow Bennett single to cut the UHS lead to 2-1 after two and a half innings.

The Lady Rangers, however, took control in the home side of the inning.

Unaka plated four runs in the third, one in the fourth, and five more in the fifth to secure the win.

Kelsey Pasquale and Bare had three RBI apiece for the Lady Rangers. Pasquale, Blackwell, and Harter each had two hits. Mollie Buckles added two RBI.

Saylor Connor had a hit and an RBI.

Bennett had a hit and an RBI for CHS, while Khloe Johnson, S. McCoury, and E. McCoury each had a hit.
