Unaka jumped out early and never looked back to open the District 1-A Baseball tournament.
The Rangers took an early lead and a 19-2 victory over Cloudland in the play-in game of the District 1-A tournament on Stoney Creek Monday. With the win, No. 4 Unaka advances to the double-elimination portion of the tournament and is slated to take on No. 1 University High on Thursday at 5p at Sullivan East.
After the ‘Landers put a run on the board to open the game, Unaka answered with 15 runs in the home side of the frame to take full control.
Rylan Crabtree and Brandon Buckles both went 2-for-3 with three RBI to lead the Rangers. Jacob Schafer added three RBI. Jake Carr added a hit and an RBI.
Walker Gouge and Austin Simerly each had a hit for Cloudland. Silas Lanthorn and Gouge each scored a run.
