Happy Valley came up short on Friday night.
The Lady Warriors dropped a hard-fought 52-32 decision to Chuckey-Doak, while the Warriors fell 76-42 to the Black Knights in the nightcap.
In the girls’ game, it was a tight battle in the early going.
The teams traded shots as CD held a slim 9-7 lead after a quarter of play. Chuckey-Doak, however, took control in the second quarter by outscoring HV 17-1 to take a 26-8 lead into the half.
Happy Valley continued to battle, but was unable to rally in the second half.
Cayden Anderson had 14 points for HV, while Marcida Moore had eight points.
Kennedy Brown led Chuckey-Doak with 12 points.
In the boys’ gane, HV was unable to keep pace with a strong Black Knight offense.
The teams battled back and fourth in the opening eight minutes as Chuckey-Doak ended the quarter with a 13-10 lead. The Warriors were able to extend the lead in the second, but HV stayed within striking distance as they trailed 33-24 at the half.
The Black Knights offense stayed hot in the second half as they slowly pulled away to take contorl of the game.
Darian Jackson and Ron Paul Parker had nine points apiece to lead Happy Valley, while AJ Campbell and Austin Nickles had six points apiece.
Christian Derry had 31 points to lead the way for the Black Knights.
