Playoff Scenarios For Carter County Teams Entering Week 11

The playoff picture is becoming clearer as we enter the final week of the season.

In Class A, the winner of the Cosby and North Greene will claim the No. 1 seed from Region 1, while the loser will take the No. 2 seed.
Cloudland can capture the No. 3 seed with a win over Unaka or a Jellico win over Hancock County. The ‘Landers have secured a spot in the playoffs.

The final position from Region 1-A will come down to Jellico and Unaka.

The Rangers must win and have Hancock County defeat Jellico to secure the No. 3 seed – which would bump Cloudland to the No. 4. A Jellico win or a Cloudland win would slot Jellico at No. 4 and keep Unaka out of the playoffs.

In Region 2-A, the picture is a little clearer as Coalfield has claimed the No. 1 seed while Oliver Springs has captured the No. 2 seed.

Harriman can capture the No. 3 seed with a win over Sunbright, which would slot Rockwood as the No. 4 seed. If Rockwood and Sunbright were to win, Rockwood would earn the No. 3 seed, and Harriman would fall to the No. 4.

In Class 2A, South Greene has captured the No. 1 seed, while Happy Valley has earned the No. 2 seed and will open the playoffs on Warrior Hill.

Eagleton will capture the No. 3 seed with a win or a South Greene win – which would slide Hampton to the No. 4 seed.

If Hampton defeats South Greene and Cumberland Gap defeats Eagleton, the Bulldogs would move into the No. 3 seed and Eagleton would be slotted as the No. 4 seed.

In Region 2-2A, three teams – York Institute, Bledsoe County, and Polk County have secured the top three seeds, but there are several scenarios to seed the teams.

The fourth and final spot will come down between Tellico Plains and Onieda. If Tellico Plains defeats Wartburg or Bledsoe County defeats Oneida, Tellico Plains will claim the No. 4 seed. If Oneida defeats Bledsoe County and Wartburg defeats Tellico Plains, Oneida will enter the playoffs as the No. 4 seed from Region 2.

In Class 4A, Region 1-A will come down to Elizabethton and Greeneville once again as the winner of the Cyclones and Greene Devils will claim the No. 1 seed from Region 1-A, while the loser will fall to the No. 2 seed. Both Elizabethton and Greeneville will open the playoffs at home.

Cherokee has secured the No. 3 seed.

The fourth and final spot from Region 1-4A will come down to three teams. If Northview defeats Sullivan East, Northview will claim the No. 4 seed. Should Grainger and Sullivan East win, Grainger would move into the No. 4 seed, while Sullivan East could take the No. 4 spot with a win over Northview as well as a Volunteer win over Grainger.

In Region 2-4A, Anderson County has secured the top spot entering the final week of the season. The winner of the Gibbs and Fulton game will claim the No. 2 spot while the loser will slide into the No. 3 seed.

The winner of the Carter and Seymour game will claim the fourth and final spot from Region 2.

The TSSAA Playoffs are slated to begin on Friday, Nov. 8.
