The playoff picture is becoming clearer as we enter the final week of the season.
In Region 1-A, the No. 1 seed will be decided in Roan Mountain, as the winner of the Cloudland-Hampton game on Friday night will earn the top spot. The Bulldogs have clinched a home playoff game in the first spot.
There are six total scenarios in play based on the results of this week’s games.
- With wins by Cloudland, Cosby, and Unaka – No. 1 Cloudland, No. 2 Hampton, No. 3 Cosby, No. 4 North Greene.
- With wins by North Greene, Cloudland, and Cosby – No. 1 Cloudland, No. 2 Hampton, No. 3 North Greene, and No. 4 Cosby.
- With wins by North Greene, Hampton, and Cosby – No. 1 Hampton, No. 2 North Greene, No. 3 Cosby, No. 4 Cloudland.
- With wins by Hampton, Cosby, and Unaka – No. 1 Hampton, No. 2 Cosby, No. 3 Cloudland, and No. 4 North Greene.
- With Jellico and Hampton wins – No. 1 Hampton, No. 2 Cloudland, No. 3 North Greene, and No. 4 Jellico.
- With Jellico and Cloudland wins, No. 1 Cloudland, No. 2 Hampton, No. 3 North Greene, and No. 4 Jellico.
In Region 1-2A, the two games will determine the order.
The winner of Thursday’s Happy Valley and South Greene game will claim the No. 1 spot, with the loser taking the No. 2 spot.
The bottom two seeds will be decided between the Cumberland Gap and West Greene contest, with the winner claiming the No. 3 spot and the loser going to No. 4.
In Region 1-4A, the top spot will come down to Elizabethton and Greeneville once again. The winner of Thursday’s contest will claim the No. 1 spot, and the loser will fall to the No. 2 spot. Both Elizabethton and Greeneville will open the playoffs at home.
Cherokee will enter the No. 3 and Volunteer will enter as the No. 4 squad.
