Rangers Unable To Keep Pace At Chuckey-Doak

Unaka was unable to keep pace with Chuckey-Doak in the 2023 season opening.

The Rangers held an early lead, but the Black Knights pulled away to take a 54-18 victory at Chuckey-Doak.

After Chuckey-Doak took an early 7-0 lead, Connor McKinney caught a Brynin Repass 18-yard touchdown pass to pull the Rangers back within a point.

Unaka struck again as Repass connected with AJ Greenless for the touchdown to push UHS into a 12-7 lead after a quarter of play.

The Black Knights, however, saw things start clicking in the second as they reeled off the next 28 points to take a 35-12 lead.

Unaka got back on the board late in the second quarter as Repass and McKinney connected for a 35-yard touchdown, but the Rangers trailed 41-18 at the half.

The Rangers continued to battle in the second half but were unable to get back on the scoreboard.

Repass had 55 yards on nine carries while going 8-of-15 passing for 89 yards. McKinney had 65 yards receiving on three catches.

Isaiah White had six catches for 28 yards for the Rangers.

Defensively, Marcus Shomaker had an interception and a fumble recovery, while Jake Wilson had a sack and forced fumble.
