Saturday Round-up: Clark Hits Game Winner To Lift Hampton Past Gate City

Hampton 59, Gate City (Va.) 58 (boys)
The Bulldogs’ Colby Clark called game.

The freshman hit a 3-pointer with 1.7 seconds remaining to lift Hampton to a thrilling win.

It was a battle throughout as HHS held a 20-16 lead after a quarter of play before Gate City took a 33-29 lead into the half. The teams continued to go back and forth throughout the second half.

Clark led Hampton with 20 points. Bryce Fagan had 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Chase Davenport added nine points.

Kaden Houseright led Gate City with 27 points.

Elizabethton 65, Happy Valley 49 (Boys)
Elizabethton pulled away in the second half to take a nonconference county win.

Justin Whitehead had 24 points to lead Elizabethton. Evan Chambers tossed in 14 points, while Hudson Pate added 11 points.

Lane Parker had 16 points to lead Happy Valley. Grady Goulds added 13 points.

Gate City 55, Hampton 35 (girls)
Hampton came up short on the road Saturday night.

Gate City held a 32-17 lead at the half. The Lady Bulldogs continued to battle and outscored the Lady Blue Devils 16-5 in the fourth, but were unable to rally.

Hannah Smith had 13 points to lead Hampton. Gracie Jenkins scored eight points, while Hannah Baird added seven points.

Happy Valley 47, Lakeway Christian 27 (girls)
The Lady Warriors rolled to a win on Saturday night.

HV jumped out to a quick lead and maintained a 32-17 halftime advantage. From there, it was all Lady Warriors.

Amila Riddick led Happy Valley with 18 points. Alex Moore had 11 points, while Kymber Pruitt scored nine points for HV.
