Saturday Roundup: Rangers pick up win

Unaka 9, University High 7

The Rangers opened the District tournament in thrilling fraction by scoring four runs in the final three innings to advance to Monday’s winner’s bracket clash.

Abram Hill went 3-for-3 at the plate, while Dakota Gallimore was 2-for-4. Issac Hill added a triple for UHS.

District 1-A Softball
University High 11, Unaka 7

The Lady Rangers were unable to pull off the upset on Tuesday at Legion Field in Greeneville. Unaka now faces North Greene in Monday’s elimination game.

Katlyn Weaver powered the Lady Rangers with a two-run double and also scored the final run, while Sarah Tipton recorded a double to drive in a run.

North Greene 15, Cloudland 0

Cloudland was unable to get the offense going as the Lady Huskies picked up the win in an elimination game.

District 1-AA Baseball
Sullivan South 4, Happy Valley 2

The Warriors had an upset on the mind, but Sullivan South had an answer.

The Rebels rallied to pick up the win after HV jumped out to a run advantage in the first with a Ryne Baines single while Bailey Conley knocked in a run to put the Warriors up 2-0 after three.

South, however, answered with a run in the bottom of the frame, and took the lead in the fifth.

Duncan Hodge and Conley led he way at the plate with two hits apiece.

HV now awaits the winner of Elizabethton and Sullivan North in a Sunday Elimination game.
