What we thought in Week 10

It is playoff time in Tennessee! As we get ready for postseason play, we take a look back at what we liked and learned during the final week of regular season.

-Dylan Ford proved to be a bigger weapon then we thought. When junior quarterback Coby Jones went down for Hampton, everyone had a question mark for the Bulldogs as they hosted Cloudland with the conference line on the line last week.

However, Ford rose to the occasion and led the Bulldogs to a 22-20 victory over the ‘Landers. The Hampton offense received an added boost from the return of Adam McClain, and will be a nightmare for opposing teams heading into the playoffs.

-Cloudland has a lot of fight in them. Honestly, the ‘Landers could have thrown in the towel in the third quarter when things weren’t going their way on Thursday night, but they did everything but throw in the towel.

Cloudland went on a tear in the fourth quarter and nearly pulled one of the most impressive comebacks in the rivalry’s history. Sparked by Austin Whitehead’s monster game, Cloudland showed resilience and the fight that could serve them well heading into the postseason.

-When it came to the Cyclones, they just came up short a touchdown.in the biggest game of the year. However, that doesn’t mean their season is over.

With a trip to Knoxville Catholic in the first round, the playoffs will be a tougher road, but the Elizabethton defense limited a strong Sullivan South offense on Thursday night. The defense and offense both have the capability of making a run in the postseason, and they are going to need every play for that.

-It was a season that Happy Valley and Unaka would probably like to forget. However, we have to give the players and coaches credit for never giving up when things didn’t go their way. The resolve and fight in both squads were something that the programs should be proud of heading into the postseason, and give them momentum getting ready for 2015.
