There was a Carter County flair to the first edition of the TSSAA AP Prep Football polls in 2019.

Elizabethton, Cloudland, and Hampton were ranked in the polls in their respective classes.

In Class 4A, Elizabethton tallied 94 points to come in at No. 4. The Cyclones, who defeated Science Hill 28-20 for the second straight season, received one first-place vote and were just two points off No. 3 Greeneville.

Haywood County was the No. 1 team. Anderson County held down the No. 2 spot.

In Class 2A, the Bulldogs tallied 31 points to grab the No. 9 spot. Hampton – who fell to Gatlinburg-Pittman on Friday – was just four points behind No. 8 Union City.
Peabody grabbed 13-of-15 first-place votes to be ranked at the top of the poll. Trousdale County and Meigs County were No. 2 and No. 3.

In Class A, Cloudland was ranked No. 9 after receiving 32 points. The ‘Landers, who dropped a hard-fought game to Happy Valley – were eight points behind No. 8 Whitwell.

At the top of the poll, Huntingdon was ranked No. 1 and South Pitt claimed the No. 2 spot.
David Crockett also represented the area in the poll by being ranked No. 5 in 5A, while Unicoi County and Johnson County received votes in 3A. South Greene also received votes in 2A.

Cloudland is set to host South Greene on Friday night, while Hampton will travel to Unicoi County. The Cyclones are off this week.
