Carter County was well represented in the first edition of the AP Tennessee Prep Basketball polls.
Three teams were ranked in their respective classes as the Hampton boys, Hampton girls, and Elizabethton girls were ranked in this week’s poll.
In the boys’ Class 1A poll, Hampton came in at No. 4 with 56 points. The Bulldogs were just three points behind No. 3 Richland.
Middleton and Clay County were ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the poll, while Hampton’s Friday night opponent North Greene was ranked No. 10.
In the girls’ Class 1A poll, Hampton tallied 78 points to come in at No. 2. The undefeated Lady Bulldogs, who received a first-place vote, saw Wayne County claim the top spot with 78 points.
Clarkrange, Clay County, and McKenzie rounded out the top five.
In the girls’ Class 3A poll, the Lady Cyclones came in at No. 5. Elizabethton came in 15 points behind No. 4 Dyer County.
Jackson South Side and Upperman were tied at the top spot, while White County came in at No. 3.
