Thursday Round-up: Elizabethton Sweeps East; Hampton Takes Two On The Road

Hampton 69, Johnson County 40
The Lady Bulldogs took care of business on Thursday night.

Hampton jumped out to a 15-8 lead in the first quarter, and pushed the advantage to 36-23 at the half. The Lady Bulldogs took full control in the third quarter by limiting Johnson County to just two field goals in the third as HHS outscored the Lady Longhorns 21-5 in the frame.

Hannah Smith led the way with 21 points, while Piper Helle had 15 points. Brea Hicks scored nine points, while Faye Carrico, Ally Birchfield, and Ella Estep had six points apiece.

Audrey Shaw had 12 points to lead Johnson County.

Elizabethton 75, Sullivan East 54
The Lady Cyclones used a pair of runs to pull away and never look back to pick up an Upper Lakes victory.

After Elizabethton held a 16-15 lead after a quarter of play, the Lady Cyclones used a 14-5 run over the final minutes of the half to take a 37-27 lead at the break.

The Lady Cyclones used a 14-2 run in the third quarter to take a 50-33 lead to pull away.

Reagan May had 20 points for Elizabethton, while Rylee May had 14 points. Peyton McGee scored 12 points for the Orange and Black. Adrian Heading and Kayleyn Nave had nine points and eight points, respectively.

Hampton 74, Johnson County 66
The Bulldogs rallied in the fourth quarter to pick up a Thursday night win on the road.

Jayden Nave scored 10 points in the opening eight minutes to lift the Bulldogs to a 14-10 lead after a quarter of play, and Bryce Fagan scored nine points in the second as HHS held a 30-25 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, Johnson County saw Eli Tester hit four 3-pointers as the Longhorns outscored Hampton 27-17 in the period to take a 52-47 lead into the final quarter.

The Bulldogs, however, responded as Chase Davenport scored 12 points in the final quarter and Fagan hit key free throws to lift Hampton to the win.

Fagan had a career high 27 points in the win for Hampton, while Davenport had 17 points. Nave finished with 15 points. Tuff Robinson added 11 rebounds and a carer high nine assists.

Carter Atwood led the Longhorns with 22 points, while Darren Chappell had 17 points.

Elizabethton 82, Sullivan East 53
The Cyclones used a big first quarter to roll to a district win.

Elizabethton jumped out to a 21-10 advantage in the opening eight minutes and pushed the advantage to 35-22 at the half.

EHS continued to have full control in the third outscoring the Patriots 30-19 to erase any thoughts of an East comeback.

Andrew Barnett had 24 points to lead Elizabethton, while Hudson Pate scored 17 points. Hudson Smith added 11 points.
