Thursday Round-up: Lady Cyclones Edge Lady Warriors; Hampton Baseball Upends HV



Hampton 12, Happy Valley 2 (baseball)
Hampton jumped out early and never looked back for a non-conference win over the county foe.

The Bulldogs plated nine runs in the first inning to take a commanding lead. HV continued to battle but was unable to match the Hampton offensive attack.

Caleb Royston had a day as he struck out 12 batters while allowing just one earned run on three hits. Josh Owens was 4-for-4, while Parker Henry and Conor Jones each added two hits.

Jones tallied three RBI, while McKinley Kuhn and Morgan Lyons had two RBI apiece.

Andrew Little led the Warrior attack with two hits and an RBI.

Elizabethton 5, Happy Valley 1 (softball)
The Lady Cyclones used a four-run fifth inning to pull away on Thursday afternoon.

Kallista Deprimo had two hits and three RBI for the Lady Cyclones, while Mailey Ingram, Madisun Pritchard, Ember Jensen, and Emma O’Quinn each had a hit.

In the circle, Pritchard picked up the win with nine strikeouts.

Abby Holt led HV as she went 3-for-3, and also recorded five strikeouts in the circle as she surpassed 100 strikeouts for the season.

Laura Rice and Olivia Absher each added a hit for Happy Valley.
