Thursday Round-Up: Lady Warriors, Rangers Take Wins; EHS Splits At Science Hill

Elizabethton 61, Science Hill 41
The Lady Cyclones used a second-half run to take full control.

After a back-and-forth battle during the first half, the Lady Cyclones went on an 18-4 run to break open a 32-32 game.

Jamira Smalls had 15 points to lead Elizabethton, while Michelle Shields ended the game with 13 points. Peyton McGee added 11 points.

Happy Valley 41, Unaka 37
The Lady Warriors jumped out early and then held on for a nonconference win on Stoney Creek.

Kayla Parker scored nine points in the opening quarter, as HV took a 16-2 lead after the first quarter. Unaka battled back as Haley Taylor provided a spark in the second quarter.

HV led 23-13 at the half and 36-24 after the third.

In the fourth quarter, Unaka made a late run but was unable to complete the rally in the closing minutes.

Parker led HV with 12 points, while Cayden Anderson had nine points. Alex Moore scored eight points for the Lady Warriors.

Taylor led Unaka with 17 points, while Lauren Lund added six points. Katlyn Dugger scored five points for the Lady Rangers.

Boys
Science Hill 49, Elizabethton 32
The Cyclones were unable to overcome a slow start on Thursday night.

Elizabethton was limited to just four points in the first half but battled back during the second. Science Hill held a 25-16 lead at the half.

Elizabethton continued to battle but was unable to rally past the Hilltoppers.

Andrew Barnett led EHS with 14 points. Mac Paulson had seven points, while Justus Wallin had five points.

Unaka 83, Happy Valley 55
The Rangers jumped out early and never looked back.

Unaka ran out to a 27-7 lead over the first eight minutes and never looked back.

Happy Valley was able to get things going in the second quarter, but Unaka held a 53-26 lead at the break.

In the second half, the Rangers were able to keep HV at bay to secure the win.
