Thursday Roundup: Lady Cyclones, Lady ‘Landers, Lady Rangers Roll To Wins, Lady Bulldogs Fall

The Lady Cyclones plated 10 runs in the first and never looked back on Thursday.

Adrian Heading was 3-for-3 with 3 RBI, while Lacey Gobble was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI to pace the Lady Cyclones. Sadie Williams added two hits and two RBI.

Ava Hanson, Gracie Shepard, and Kaitlyn Gryder each recorded two hits.

Cloudland 20, University High 10
The Lady ‘Landers stormed to a road district win on the road Thursday evening.

CHS jumped out to a 6-1 lead after the first inning of play and pushed the advantage to 13-1 after the top of the third. UH battled back, but Cloudland was able to secure the win.

Willow Bennett was 4-for-5 – including a homerun – with five RBI, while Peyton Preswood was 3-for-3. Regan Blair was 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Ayla Horney added two hits and an RBI.

Eowyn McCoury, Savannah McCoury, Jayla Harper, and Reagan Turbyfill each recorded a hit and an RBI.

North Greene 13, Hampton 3
The Lady Bulldogs were unable to overcome an early deficit on Thursday.

North Greene jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first, but Hampton battled back to close the game to 4-3 entering the bottom of the third. The Lady Huskies, however, plated five runs to extend the lead back out in the home side of the inning.

Hannah Smith was 3-for-3 for Hampton, while Lillian Andrews was 2-for-3. Hadley Vines and Lauren Smith each had a hit and an RBI.

Nalei Deloach and Kiera McKinney each had a hit.

Unaka 17, Johnson County 5
The Lady Rangers rolled to a Thursday win in Mountain City.

Devalynn Harter was 4-for-4 with two RBI, while Mollie Buckles had two hits and three RBI to pace Unaka. Kacie Bare and Brooklyn Campbell had two hits and an RBI each, while Kimberly Profitt had two hits.

Katlyn Dugger and Kelsey Pasquale finished with a hit and an RBI apiece, while Mikenna Blackwell added a hit.

Baseball
Happy Valley 20, Cloudland 1
The Warriors picked up a non-conference win on Thursday evening over a county foe.

HV jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first and was able to keep Cloudland at bay for the win.

Aiden Hartsook was 2-for-2 with 2 RBI for HV, while Greg Visser and Maddox Beach added three RBI. Lane Parker and Brody Wagner added two RBI apiece.

Jackson Hollifield struck out seven batters and allowed just one earned run on one hit in three innings of work for the Warriors.

Walker Gouge and Austin Simerly each had a hit for Cloudland, while Brayden Whitaker had a run scored. Whitaker struck out five in three innings of work.
