The TSSAA Board of Control had a busy Monday – including a couple of decisions that will impact local teams.

During the meeting, the TSSAA Board of Control heard Elizabethton’s appeal to the punishment of the baseball program as well as held discussions on the addition of a shot clock in basketball.

The TSSAA approved the Cyclone athletic department’s appeal to sanctions handed down to the baseball as a result of the incident that occurred during the District 1-3A baseball tournament with Unicoi.

The two-year probation has been cut down to one year for EHS, while Unicoi County’s 1-year probation has been removed.

Both teams were removed from the post-season last season after the incident.

Also during the meeting, the Board of Control was provided the results of a survey taken by schools that utilized a shot clock during summer camp. With the results, the board voted to not implement a shot clock in basketball.

The item will not be discussed at least for the next three years.
