Tuesday Round-up: Absher, Moore lead Lady Warriors to win

Happy Valley 53, Chuckey-Doak 30 (Girls)
The Lady Warriors set the tone in the first quarter and never looked back.

Happy Valley held the Lady Black Knights scoreless in the first quarter and raced out to a 10-0 lead. HV doubled up CD in the second quarter to take a 28-8 lead into the second half.

Olivia Absher had 11 points to lead the way, while Shalyn Whitson added nine points. Emma Blevins and Autumn Henegar had eight and seven points, respectively.

Holly Moore led the team with 9 rebounds and 6 steals.


Happy Valley 67, Chuckey-Doak 63 (Boys)
A back-and-forth battle saw HV come out on top in a thrilling season opening.

Neither team was able to get much separation as CD lead 20-17 at the end of the first quarter and the teams were tied at 34 at the break.

The Warriors, behind the play of Noah Stevens, led by four going to the fourth quarter and then held on for the win.

Stevens had 24 points to lead the way for Happy Valley, while Luke Roberts had 17 points. James Harmon added 10 points to the Warrior cause.

Sullivan Central 66, Unaka 36 (girls)
The Lady Rangers were unable to overcome a fierce offensive attack in the first half.

Sullivan Central jumped out to a 16-5 lead and then led 36-14 at the half.

Lyndie Ramsey led Unaka with 17 points. Jada Whitehead had eight points for the Lady Rangers.
