Tuesday Round-up: Bulldogs pick up huge District 1-A Win

Hampton 57, North Greene 55 (boys)
The Bulldogs took a huge District 1-A win on Tuesday night.

It was the heavyweight fight most were expecting as the teams went back-and-forth.

Hampton held a 19-11 lead after a quarter of play, but the Huskies battled back to take a 29-25 advantage at the half. After NG maintained a 44-38 lead after three complete, the Bulldogs came to life.

Morgan Lyons and Michael Harrison helped spark a rally and both made critical shots in the final minute to secure the win.

Harrison had 19 points to lead the way, while Lyons had 17 points. Connor Burleson added 10 points to the Bulldog cause.


Sullivan North 61, Unaka 58 (boys)
The Raiders edged Unaka in a thriller on Tuesday night.

It was a tight battle from the opening tipoff.

The teams were tied at 13-13 after a quarter of play, and North maintained a three-point advantage at the break.

Unaka was led by Will Sexton who had 26 points. Joe Blamo totaled 15 points for the Rangers.

Sullivan South 44, Elizabethton 40 (boys)
The Rebels jumped out to a slim lead early and then held on in the closing stages to take an upset win.

Jake Roberts had 13 points to lead the way for the Cyclones.

Cloudland 65, University High 11 (girls)
Cloudland hit cruise control early to send the Lady ‘Landers to a District 1-A win.

Heaven Caraway had 12 points to lead the way for CHS, while Jasmine Birchfield and Mandy Benfield had nine points apiece.

Kendall Birchfield and Ella Benfield added eight points each.

Elizabethton 64, Sullivan South 51 (girls)
The Lady Cyclones rolled to a Three Rivers win on Tuesday night.

EHS jumped out to a 10-4 first-quarter advantage and pushed the lead to 15 by the half.

The Lady Cyclones were never threatened in the second half.

Lina Lyon had 20 points to pace EHS, while Morgan Headrick had 19 points. Torrie Roberts added 13 points.

Sullivan East 66, Happy Valley 36 (girls)
The Lady Warriors were unable to rally from an early deficit against the Lady Patriots.

Gabby Wood had 11 points, while Marcida Moore had 10 points. Kadie Bailey added seven points for the Lady Warriors.

Unaka 50, Sullivan North 31 (girls)
Lyndie Ramsey and the Lady Rangers rolled to a district win on Tuesday night.

Ramsey tossed in 32 points to lead Unaka.
