Tuesday Round-up: Bulldogs Unable To Hold Off DB; Lady ‘Landers Win Season Opener

Dobyns-Bennett 85, Hampton 76 (boys)
The Bulldogs went toe-to-toe with the defending Class 4A State Champs.

Hampton was unable to hold onto the lead as HHS held a 75-74 lead with 2:36 to play.

It was a back-and-forth battle from the opening tip as Hampton held their own. After DB led by 12 in the second, the Bulldogs battled back to regain the lead in the second half.

Cadon Buckles had 38 points to lead Hampton, while Michael Anspaugh tossed in 13 points.

Haydon Campbell added nine points.

Cloudland 59, Sullivan East 52 (girls)
The Lady ‘Landers picked up a win to open the 2022-23 season.

Cloudland erased a double-digit deficit after a quarter of play and led 27-20 at the half. From there, CHS held off the Lady Patriots for the win.

Ella Benfield had 12 points to lead Cloudland, while Saharra McKinney and Katie Baldwin had 10 points apiece.
