Tuesday Round-Up: Hampton Baseball Rolls To Win

Hampton 17, Northwood (Va.) 7
The Bulldogs tallied 17 hits and moved to 3-0 for the first time since 2020 on Tuesday night.

The Hampton barrage was led by Morgan Lyons and Conor Jones as the duo added three hits apiece, while Caleb Royston and Jonathon Greenwell each added two hits.

In all, 11 Hampton batters recorded hits.

On the mound, Greenwell picked up the win in his first career start as he allowed just three earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts.

Volunteer 7, Elizabethton 5
Elizabethton was unable to complete a rally at Volunteer on Tuesday night.

Peyton Johnson was 3-for-3 at the plate, while Jack Farris added two hits for the Orange and Black.

Hayden Nave, Zak Workman, and Farris each added a RBI.
Johnson allowed no earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts in four innings of work, while Connor Edmundson allowed just one hit in two innings of work on the mound.

Twin Springs (Va) 11, Unaka 1
The Rangers were unable to bounce back from a slow start against the Titans.

Michael Duvall and Brynin repass each had a hit for Unaka in the game, while Jaylen Hardin had a RBI.

Softball
Sullivan East 2, Elizabethton 1
The Lady Cyclones came up short in a Tuesday afternoon duel.

East broke a scoreless game with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, and the Cyclones got a run back in the home side of the sixth.

The Lady Cyclones were unable to bring the tying run home to continue the inning or in the seventh.

Ember Jensen was 3-for-3 to lead the Elizabethton bats, while Bailee VanHuss, Emma O’Quinn, and Maely Ingram each had a hit.

Madisun Pritchard struck out eight Lady Patriots while allowing just two earned runs on seven hits.

Unaka 15, University High 3
The Lady Rangers took care of business for a district win.

Alana Parsons went 3-for-3 with four RBI, while Sadie Shoun was 3-for-3 with two RBI to power the Lady Rangers.

Trinity Bowers and Mattie Salyer each had three RBI.

Shoun picked up the win on the mound as she struck out seven batters in three innings of work, and didn’t allow a hit.

Cloudland 22, Hampton 5
The Lady ‘Landers picked up a county conference win on Tuesday in Roan Mountain.

CHS jumped out to a 5-1 lead after an inning of play before plating 13 runs in the second to take full control.

Hampton continued to battle with four runs in the top of the fifth.

Taylor Hicks and Saharra McKinney had three hits for Cloudland, while Kendall Birchfield, Isabella Christman, Layken Blair, and Karah Fields added two hits apiece.

Abbie Lunsford had three hits for Hampton, while Abby Willis added two hits for Hampton.

Boys Tennis
Elizabethton 7, West Ridge 2
The Cyclones picked up a decisive victory on Tuesday – including sweeping singles action.

Elijah Smith, Kaden Street, Hudson Smith, Carsen Peters, Anderson Hallman, and Nickolas Wilson all picked up wins ins ingles action.

The duo of Smith and Peters won in doubles play.

Girls Tennis
West Ridge 8, Elizabethton 1
The Lady Cyclones dropped several tight matches on Tuesday in a match with West Ridge.

Maggie Rowland picked up an 8-5 win at No. 2 singles for EHS.
