Tuesday Round-up: Hampton Takes Two From HV; Lady Cyclones Roll

Hampton 78, Happy Valley 29 (boys)
A hot-shooting Hampton squad rolled to a nonconference county win on Tuesday night.

Hampton outscored HV 29-12 in the opening quarter and continued to keep the pressure on the rest of the way.

Cadon Buckles scored 28 points to lead the Hampton effort – including his 1,000th point in the third quarter. Hayden Cambell finished with 10 points, while Michael Anspaugh had nine points.

In all, 11 Bulldogs scored in the game.

Dakota Grindstaff and Austin Nickles had nine points apiece, while Ron Parker scored six points for the Warriors.

Tennessee High 64, Elizabethton 59 (boys)
A determined Cyclone squad came up short in a thriller at Tennessee High on Tuesday night.

After the game was tied at 6-6 after a quarter of play, Elizabethton held a slim 26-25 advantage at the break.

The teams continued to trade shots throughout the third quarter as EHS extended the lead to four points after three complete.

Tennessee High, however, outscored EHS 21-12 in the final quarter to take the win.

Dalton Mitchell and Zack Wallin led the Elizabethton effort with 13 points. Mason Ball scored 12 points, while Andrew Barnett added 11 points.

Hampton 75, Happy Valley 34 (girls)
The Lady Bulldogs started quickly and never looked back.

Hampton jumped out to a 28-9 lead in the first quarter and held a 50-14 halftime advantage.

From there, the Lady Bulldogs never looked back despite a hard-fought effort from HV to remain perfect on the season.

Macy Henry had 16 points to lead Hampton, while Piper Helle and Madi McClain had 15 points apiece. Linsey Jenkins had 13 points. Taylor Berry added seven points.

Happy Valley was paced by Kadie Bailey’s 18 points. Marcida Moore had 10 points.

Elizabethton 75, Tennessee High 34 (girls)
The Lady Cyclones continued to roll in district action.
Elizabethton raced out to a 25-8 lead in the first eight minutes and then left no doubt in the third quarter by outscoring the Lady Vikings 26-7.

The Lady Cyclones hit 12 3-pointers in the win.

Lina Lyon had 22 points to lead the way, while Renna Lane had 19 points. Olivia Holly had 11 points.

Through four District 1-3A games, Elizabethton has outscored their opponents 282-156.
