Tuesday Round-up: Lady Cyclones Fall In Heartbreaker; Lady Warriors, Lady Rangers Get Wins

Sullivan East 55, Elizabethton 53
The Lady Cyclones dropped a heartbreaker on Tuesday night.

Elizabethton saw Sullivan East use three free throws with 1:14 to play to push the lead out to five points, and then hold off the Lady Cyclones in the closing seconds.

It was a battle from the opening tip as East led 13-12 after a quarter of play and 28-25 at the half.

Elizabethton continued to stay within striking distance and tied the game going to the final quarter at 35 apiece.

The offenses got rolling in the final eight minutes. Lina Lyon scored 10 points in the frame, while Reiley Whitson added eight points.

However, the Lady Cyclones were unable to overcome the five-point margin for the win.

Lyon, who scored her 1,000th career point during the game, had 23 points to lead Elizabethton, while Whitson had 14 points.

Olivia Holly added eight points.

Jenna Hare led the Lady Patriots with 23 points.

Unaka 68, Johnson County 28
Unaka rolled to a nonconference win on Tuesday night.

The Lady Rangers used a balanced attack and took control early.

Julie Simerly and Lyndie Ramsey had 15 points apiece. Macy Ensor added 12 points.

Kiki Forney scored 10 points for the Lady Rangers.

Aubree Glenn led Johnson County with 10 points.

Happy Valley 31, Chuckey-Doak 16
Happy Valley came out on top with a strong defensive effort.

The Lady Warriors jumped out to an 11-6 lead after a quarter of play and took control by holding the Lady Knights to just three points in the second quarter.

From there, it was all Happy Valley.

Kenzie Ramsey had 12 points to lead the way, while Kadie Bailey scored nine points.

Boys
Sullivan East 76, Elizabethton 63
Elizabethton was unable to hold onto an early lead on Tuesday night.

The Cyclones jumped out to an 18-13 lead after a quarter of play, but East regained the lead before half to take a 32-29 advantage into the locker room.

Elizabethton continued to battle, but East slowly extended the lead in the third quarter and then held the Cyclones at bay in the closing minutes.

Bryce Carter had 18 points to lead Elizabethton. Jake Roberts added 12 points.

Johnson County 72, Unaka 63 OT
The Rangers had a furious rally in the fourth to force overtime but was unable to hold on in the extra period.

After the Longhorns held a 13-6 lead after a quarter of play, Unaka trimmed into the lead during the second stanza.

The Longhorns took a 10-point advantage into the final quarter, but the Rangers wouldn’t be deterred to force overtime.

In the extra period, Unaka, however, was unable to get back in front in the closing minutes.

Joseph Slagle had 18 points to pace Unaka, while Gavin Seigfried had 13 points.

Joe-Z Blamo had nine points. Landon and Devin Ramsey added eight points apiece.

Preston Greer had 27 points to pace Johnson County.

Chuckey-Doak 55, Happy Valley 50
The Warriors came up short on Tuesday night.

Dakota Grindstaff had 18 points to lead Happy Valley. Colby Chausse had 11 points.

Landon Babb tossed in nine points for the Warriors.
