Tuesday Round-up: Lady ‘Landers edge Unicoi, Rangers fall to Sullivan Central

The Lady ‘Landers edged out Unicoi to break into the win column.

After a heartbreaking loss on Monday, Cloudland found themselves in another nailbiter on Tuesday afternoon. CHS held a one-point lead after eight minutes of play and then led 23-21 at the half.

After Unicoi took a one-point lead into the fourth quarter, Cloudland hit some key shots to take the win.

Jasmine Birchfield had 14 points to lead the way, while Gracie Freeman tallied 12 points in the win. Sahara McKinney had seven points. Heaven Caraway ended the night with six points.

Sullivan Central 72, Unaka 59 (boys)
The Rangers were unable to overcome a sluggish fourth quarter on Tuesday night.

Unaka played even with Central through the first quarter, but the Cougars were able to take a five-point advantage into the half.

The Rangers continued to battle, but Central outscored Unaka 23-15 in the final eight minutes to pull away.

Joseph Slagle had 17 points, while Joe Blamo and Will Sexton had 12 points apiece. Devin Ramsey scored 10 points in the win for the Rangers.
