Tuesday Round-up: Lady ‘Landers Roll, Lady Warriors Hold On For Win

Johnson County 49, Unaka 48
The Lady Rangers dropped a hard-fought battle on Tuesday night.

It was an even game nearly throughout as the game was tied at 15-15 after a quarter of play and 25-25 at the half.

The second half was much the same as the teams ended the third quarter in a 38-38 stalemate, and the Lady Longhorns were able to eke out a win.

Katlyn Dugger had 18 points, while Keyona Hague had 15 points and seven rebounds. Haley Taylor ended the night with eight points and five assists.

Happy Valley 46, University High 40
The Lady Warriors held on late to take a non-conference win on Tuesday night.

HV led 15-4 after a quarter of play and maintained a 22-19 halftime lead. After UH trimmed a double-digit lead back to three points in the final minutes, Happy Valley was able to hold on for the win.

Ashlynn Sommers led the way with 13 points for the Lady Warriors, while Kayla Parker tallied 10 points.

Cayden Anderson and Alex Moore scored eight points apiece. Marcida Moore had key free throws late and ended the game with seven points.

Cloudland 67, Twin Springs (Va.) 20
The Lady ‘Landers hit cruise control on Tuesday.

Cloudland raced out to a 30-point halftime lead and rolled to their sixth straight win to open the season.

Makenzie Street had 21 points to lead the way, while Izabella Christman added 12 points.

Dobyns-Bennett 37, Elizabethton 31
The Lady Cyclones were unable to come out ahead in a defensive struggle on Tuesday night in Kingsport.

Jamira Smalls ended the game with 11 points to lead Elizabethton.

Boys
University High 84, Happy Valley 45
The Warriors were unable to keep up with a torrid offensive attack by the Bucs on Tuesday.

After the Warriors opened the game on a 6-1 run, UH answered and started to pull away in the second quarter.

HV kept battling but was unable to mount a rally.

Joseph Sowards had 10 points to lead the way for Happy Valley, while Dylan Furr and Austin Nickles had eight points each.

Johnson County 71, Unaka 55
The Rangers came up short on the road.

Unaka and the Longhorns traded early shots before Johnson County took a 35-19 lead at the half.

The Rangers kept fighting but were unable to make a late run.
John Hardin had 14 points to lead the Rangers.

Carson Jennings led Johnson County with 22 points.
