The Lady Rangers were a team on a mission.
Unaka rolled to a 6-1 victory over North Greene to capture the District 1-A Championship on Thursday on Stoney Creek.
With the win, the Lady Rangers will open the Region 1-A tournament at home on Monday against Greenback, while North Greene will travel to Cosby.
Unaka came out of the gates quickly.
Corie Scheuttler struck out the first three batters of the game in the top of the first.
Katlyn Weaver put the Lady Rangers on the board first with a home run over the left field fence that also scored Sarah Tipton. That allowed UHS to take a 2-0 advantage into the second inning.
Sidney Markland got on base with two outs in the second inning and worked her way around the bases to push the advantage to 3-0. Unaka continued to seize control of the game in the third as Erica Potter took advantage of a North Greene miscue and then scored off a Savannah Tipton sacrifice.
After neither team was able to get on the scoreboard in the fourth inning, North Greene scored their lone run of the night as Jada Antonelli crossed home plate. The Rangers, however, put the icing on the cake in the sixth inning as Madison Pierce and Markland scored to account for the final margin.
Markland was 3-for-3, while Sar. Tipton add two hits. In all, the Lady Rangers had nine hits.
In the circle, Scheuttler pitched a gem of a game as she allowed just one unearned run on four hits with 11 strikeouts.
