It was a split night for the Unaka basketball programs.

The Lady Rangers stormed to a 54-25 win over Sullivan North, while the Rangers fell 76-51 to the Raiders in District 1-A action.

In the girls’ game, it was all Unaka early.

The Lady Rangers rolled to a 15-3 lead in the opening quarter, and then extended it to 33-11 at the half. Any thought of a comeback was erased as Unaka added eight points to their lead in the frame.

Lyndie Ramsey had 19 points to lead Unaka, while Jada Whitehead and Kiki Forney had nine points each. Lilie Kiser scored eight points.

The boys’ game saw Unaka have to battle from behind.

Sullivan North limited the rangers to just nine points in the opening quarter while the Raiders took a 20-9 lead.

Unaka settled down in the second stanza knocking two points off the North advantage, but a strong third quarter from Sullivan North was too much to overcome.

Will Sexton had 11 points, while Devin Ramsey added 10 points. Ryan Johnson scored nine points for the Rangers.
