Unaka unable to keep pace with North Greene

The Rangers were unable to keep their mojo going.

Unaka was unable to keep pace with North Greene in a 65-36 loss in the District 1-A boys consolation game at Daniel Boone on Monday night at Daniel Boone. Unaka will open the Region 1-A tournament on Saturday against the District 2-A winner.

The Huskies jumped out early despite Unaka points from Kyler Lewis and Colton Chambers. North Greene ended the first quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 17-5 lead into the second quarter.

The run for NG continued in the second quarter as the Huskies bookmarked a Chambers bucket to extended the lead to 32-9 halfway through the stanza. Davey Ensory and Chambers helped ended the quarter on a 4-0 Ranger run, but NG held a 37-15 lead at the break.

The third quarter saw Joe Searfoss, Gary Wright and Lewis score for Unaka. However, they were unable to dig into the North Greene lead. From there, the Huskies slowly extended the lead over the final eight minutes despite Unaka seeing John Boy Ramsey hit four 3-pointers in the stanza.

Ramsey led the way with 12 points for the Rangers, while Chambers added 10 points. Wright and Lewis had four points apiece.

Corben Bernard and Finn Wilczek led NG with 15 and 13 points, respectively.
