Warriors break into top 10; Cyclones, Bulldogs hold steady

There is a new Carter County representative inside the AP Prep Football polls.

Happy Valley enters the week at No. 10 in Class 2A joining Hampton and Elizabethton in the rankings.

The Warriors are coming off a 62-0 shellacking of Unicoi County on Friday and are 3-0 on the season. Happy Valley is tied for the 10th spot with Austin East with 28 points. HV received one first-place vote.

Hampton remained ranked in Class 2A as they held down a tie for the No. 6 spot with Forrest. The Bulldogs, who were off last week, had 74 points – just 10 points away from No. 5 Trezevant. Adamsville held the No. 1 spot in Class 2A.

In Class 3A, Elizabethton held steady at No. 8 with 53 points. The Cyclones are 2-1 on the season after picking up a 14-6 victory over Daniel Boone on Friday.

Alcoa, Liberty Magnet and Notre Dame hold the top three spots in the class.

Happy Valley (vs. Cosby), Hampton (vs. Gatlinburg-Pittman) and Elizabethton (vs. Unicoi County) are all at home on Friday night.
