Happy Valley completed perfection on Thursday night.
The Warriors outlasted South Greene for a 20-14 victory to claim the Region 1-2A Championship and a No. 1 seed. With the win, Happy Valley finished the regular season 10-0.
Happy Valley will have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
HV took care of business on the ground as the Warriors ran for 281 yards. Tyler Bailey had 14 carries for 87 yards, while Keelin Releford had 16 carries for 81 yards and a score.
Gabe McDougald had two touchdowns with 15 carries for 73 yards.
The Warriors struck first as Releford scored from 11 yards out midway through the first to give HV a 6-0 lead.
Happy Valley extended the lead to 14-0 as McDougald scored on a four-yard touchdown. After a blocked punt, South Greene saw Nash Rader score a short touchdown to trim the Warrior lead to 14-7 at the half.
The defenses set the tone for the second half as neither team was able to get into the endzone in the third.
McDougald scored his second touchdown of the night to cap a strong drive to push the lead to 20-7. South Greene, however, countered as Tripp Neas scored on a swing pass with 3:36 left to play.
The Warriors, however, secured the win with two key first downs to secure the win.
The Happy Valley defense held South Greene to just 53 yards rushing. Radar was 5-of-8 passing for 128 yards. Neas had 88 receiving yards on three carries while adding seven carries for 32 yards on the ground.
