Warriors Fall To South Greene In Region 1-2A Clash

Happy Valley came up short on Warrior Hill Friday Night.

The Warriors were unable to rally late as South Greene took a 21-6 win in a Region 1-2A clash at Happy Valley. HV saw their 11-regular season game-winning streak snapped and moved to 4-1 on the year, while South Greene improved to 5-1 on the year.

The teams traded defensive stands in the early going.

Happy Valley’s defense forced South Greene off the field with a three-and-out on the opening drive of the game, but HV was unable to get anything going.

South Greene embarked on an 11-play drive that saw them open the second quarter at the HV 1. However, the Warrior defense came up big as Happy Valley kept South Greene out of the endzone.

HV used a pair of big runs from Jamie Esterline to get into the red zone. However, the Warriors were unable to capitalize as they were stopped on fourth down.

Gabe McDougald ended the next SG drive with an interception as the teams went to the locker room scoreless.

Defenses continued to set the tone to open the third quarter as SG stopped HV at midfield on fourth-and-one, but the Warriors repaid the favor as Landon Keller jumped on a South Greene fumble.

After HV was forced to punt, South Greene struck quickly as Tripp Neas scored on a four-yard run to take a 7-0 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Rebels were able to add a 17-yard and a 18-yard touchdowns from Neas to take a 21-0 in the fourth quarter.

HV continued to battle as Lane Parker set the Warriors up inside the SG 5 after a long kickoff run, and McDougald took advantage with a short touchdown run.

The Warriors were unable to recover the onside kick.
Esterline had eight carries for 105 yards, while McDougald had 41 yards on 16 carries.

Neas had 23 carries for 134 yards to lead SG.
