Happy Valley was unable to break through on Friday night.
The Warriors dropped a 37-6 nonconference decision to Unicoi County on Friday night on Warrior Hill. With the loss, HV falls to 0-2 on the season.
Happy Valley and the Blue Devils traded possessions for much of the first half as the first quarter ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
After Bransan Salts scored for Unicoi County with 4:39 left in the first half, a special teams safety gave the Blue Devils a 9-0 lead.
Unicoi was able to add two more scores – including a 31-yard score with three seconds remaining to take a 23-0 lead into the half.
HV kept fighting but was unable to mount a rally against the visiting Blue Devils.
Jamie Esterline scored on a 23-yard touchdown in the second half for the Warriors and finished with 46 yards. Joseph Sowards had 44 rushing yards.
