In a county clash, Happy Valley took care of business.
The Warriors captured a 55-7 victory over Cloudland on Friday night in nonconference action in Roan Mountain.
Lane Parker led HV with four total touchdowns – two rushing touchdowns, a kickoff return, and a defensive score – and added 75 yards on four carries. Artee Bahn had 67 yards and two touchdowns on two carries for HV, while Nalique Anderson had two touchdowns and 56 yards on seven carries.
Cloudland – which was without multiple starters due to injury – saw Gavyn Shell record 57 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown. Landon Barnette added 43 yards on nine carries.
HV struck first as Bahn and Anderson scored on 22-yard touchdowns, and Parker scored on a 12-yard run as HV took a 20-0 lead into the second quarter.
After Parker opened the second quarter with a 42-yard touchdown run, Anderson added his second touchdown of the night on a 10-yard run. Bahn broke free for a 44-yard score, and Maycol Vasquez’s extra point gave the Warriors a 41-0 lead at the half.
Vasquez was 7-of-8 on extra points for HV.
Parker struck on the first play of the second half as he took the opening kickoff for a 68-yard touchdown, and then added a 37-yard interception return for a score.
Cloudland continued to fight and broke onto the board in the fourth as Shell scored on a one-yard run on fourth and goal. Kevin Cabrera-Medina added the extra point.
